MID-FACELIFT THROUGH LOWER LID

The area between the lower eyelids and the nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the mouth corner, is the midface. With time, the mid-face tissue literally droops. The result is hollowing under the eyes, elongation of the lower eyelid with a potential to create a circular eye (disappearance of the almond shape), reduction of cheekbone volume, development of nasolabial folds and folds of bitterness, and the appearance of puffy lumps on either side of the chin that make the face look square (jowls). These can make us look older or more stressed than we are.

Round facial contours and prominent cheekbones characteristics of youth and beauty. The purpose of the mid-facelift is to reposition the facial tissue between the eyes and the mouth (midface) to its right position.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Mid-facelift:

Q: How do I know if I need a mid facelift or a facelift?
A: Many factors, including age, genetics, previous sun exposure, abuse of nicotine, skin type and elasticity of the skin, all play a role in deciding what the best direction to go will be to get a mid facelift. A consultation with our board-certified facial plastic surgeon is the best way to know for sure. Don't be afraid of asking questions!

Q: Will I Be in Pain?
A: Most of our customer share with us the recovery is far less painful than they expected. Some discomfort, swelling is to be expected and can be well controlled. You will have prescription pain medication after the procedure to help you stay comfortable through the first stages of healing. A return to normal light activity is possible as soon as you feel ready, usually within a day or two.

Q: Will my results look natural?
A: Customer will have the accurate diagnosis and results afterwards through VECTRA XT 3D imaging system. Our surgeons will offer suggestions to achieve balanced proportions not only on the face, but throughout the body. These images will help you to visualize what the potential outcome of your surgery will be. All details of the midface lift procedure will be explained and any questions or concerns that you may have will be addressed. Viewing and discussing these simulated photos with our doctors will help guide them in performing your surgery to your specifications so that you are sure to love the end result!

Q: Is the healing time for a mid facelift less than a facelift?
A: Yes, in general. Less muscle tightening is involved in mid facelifts, meaning there is less swelling. Patients usually return to work and activities in around 5 to 7 days. Real experiences of recovery differ between patients.

PREPARE FOR YOUR SURGERY
  • Strictly NO food and drink including water for 6-8 hours before surgery. Having food or drink in your system could cause complications from the anesthesia,
  • Stop smoking before your procedure for a few weeks to avoid nicotine-related risks,
  • Do not take medications that could increase bleeding, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and aspirin. Avoid supplements that have similar effects, like vitamin E and fish oil,
  • You must be cleared for surgery by appropriate pre-surgery screening (blood test, EKG, X-ray, ultrasound etc.) in accordance with your surgeon's instructions and our Patient Safety requirements,
  • Choose clothes that will be comfortable (loose-fitting clothes and slip-on shoes). You shouldn't wear contact lenses, accessories like jewelry, watches, wigs or hairpins. Do not apply any products to your skin or hair the morning of surgery,
  • Line up a family member or friend to drive you home after your procedure or post-operative care since you will be receiving anesthesia.
PROCESS

The midface lift takes about one and a half hours to perform. An incision just behind the eyelashes of the lower eyelid is made by our surgeon (sub-eyelid incision) similar to those seen in the lower eyelid to cut excess tissue. Both the soft tissues of the cheeks are separated from the bone from the incision to be repositioned higher in a movement opposite to that caused by ageing.

Invisible facial threads are attached through small perforations in the cheekbone (palpable bony arch under the eyes). Then, excess skin from the lower eyelid is removed at the end of the procedure.

Taking care after surgery

Serious complications are rare. The sensation of pressure and tight skin during the first few days is natural. The after-effects are characterized by facial swelling and, depending on the patient and within the first 2 weeks, bruising fade.

Our plastic surgeon also needs to see you to ensure you are healing well. Your incisions were closed with non-dissolvable sutures and need to be removed after 7-10 days. Please don't skip your post-op follow-ups.

A fresh, relaxed and comfortable look is given by the procedure. The scars are very discreet and well-concealed, could be quickly camouflaged with makeup. For the effects of the procedure to be unnoticeable, it is appropriate to wait 6 weeks.
